Best of 2011: Credit Sequences

Best Credit Sequence goes to…. TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY.

I already had a clear winner before choosing this film, it’s a battle. The previous one is much more flashy and fancy, but then when I saw this film I had to go with this. Why? This opening credits is so subtle that I can watch it again and again. For a full 5 minutes, it starts with moody score by Alberto Iglesias (who got Oscar nomination for his work in this film) and is framed with perfection by DP Hoyte van Hoytema. Not only you get to see the characters’ daily routine, but also the kick-ass costume design and detailed production design.

And the other 5 worthy nominees are:

  1. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, opening
  2. Thor, ending
  3. The Adventure of Tintin, opening
  4. Drive, opening
  5. Captain America, ending
